What is a Sister Gown?

A sister dress is just our fun way of classifying gowns that are super similar but still different. Similar qualities include but are not limited to similar applique, lace patterns or beading. Some differences that are commonly seen with sister gowns are different silhouettes, underlay colors and possibly even necklines. Sister gowns are usually created by designers to give brides several design options for popular patterns. For example, having the same gown in a fitted and a-line version can help a bride decide that struggling between picking a fitted or a-line gown. As a store, we always want to make sure a bride has seen all the options before saying yes to a gown.

Take a look at some of our store's favorite sister gowns:

Adair and Dorothy

Our first set of sister dresses is perfect for our bohemian brides. Adair and Dorothy are created by the same designer, Lillian West. Like many of the examples you are going to see, this sheet lace was so loved by brides that they created an a-line and a fitted style.

Reagan and Jennifer

These sisters are a more unique pair than the others because they are actually designed by different designers. Jennifer is created by Justin Alexander while Reagan is designed by Stella York. These gowns are very similar but they do have different plunge styles. Reagan (left) has more of a tapered plunge while Jennifer (right) has a steeper plunge ending in a rectangle.

Amy and Emmy

Say hello to our two scandalous sisters. Both of these gowns are known in our store for being more see-through than any of the other gowns. Amy (left) and Emmy (right) are not exactly the same gown, but they do have the same unique 3D lace. Both of these gowns are designed by Enchanting.

Beyonce and Carter

Beyonce and Carter truly are sister gowns! Beyonce was created a few seasons before Carter (right) because Beyonce (left) was so adored by many brides. However, some brides really wanted her top in a fitted skirt, so designer Martin Thornburg created those brides' dreams.

Maeve and Violet

These two gowns were designed by Justin Alexander. We absolutely love this gown's unique rouching throughout the bodice of the dress. This design is perfect for any bride looking for that clean and classic look. Maeve is on the left while Violet is on the right.

Malin and Bambi

Ma

Similar to Adair and Dorothy, these gowns have a unique lace pattern. This lace actually has 3D components, making the gown perfect for any whimsical bride. Bambi (right) and Malin (left) are designed by Lillian West.
